Ground Control
Ground Control lets your AI write an After Effects script, check it, run it in your real, open After Effects, and show you what happened. It works with Claude Code and the ChatGPT desktop app.
It is a Motion Lab membership perk. Your membership gives you a license key, and the key covers two machines.

What Ground Control does
Section titled “What Ground Control does”- Reads what is in your project and your comp, so your AI works from the real thing
- Checks every script before it runs, and quarantines anything that fails
- Runs scripts in your open After Effects, each run as one undo step
- Saves a copy of your project file before any run that changes it
- Captures a frame of the comp after a run, so you can see the result instead of reading about it
- Looks facts up in your own notes before writing, and saves verified facts back
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”Ground Control 0.2.0 works with After Effects 2024 and newer on Windows and macOS, with Claude Code or the ChatGPT desktop app. ChatGPT in a browser or on a phone cannot run it: Ground Control has to run on your own machine to reach After Effects.
