Run doctor first

Doctor checks every piece and prints a plain-language report. It reads only; no script runs and nothing changes.

If the report does not point you at a fix, paste it into an email to support@jakeinmotion.com.

Ground Control is not in the Window > Extensions menu

Restart After Effects: it only looks for new panels at launch. If it is still missing, install the ZXP again. See Installing ZXP Extensions.

My AI does not have the Ground Control tools

Run setup again, then start a new Claude Code session or restart the ChatGPT desktop app. Setup registers Ground Control with the apps it finds, and a session that was already open does not see the change.

The panel says “No answer from After Effects”

After Effects is closed, or the panel is not open in it. Open After Effects and Window > Extensions > Ground Control, and leave the panel open while your AI works.

The panel says it is not activated

Open the Menu at the bottom right, choose License, and paste your key. The key is on the same order as your download. If the key is already on two machines, deactivate one of them from its own License window first.

A run was refused

The panel says why. The usual causes are a script outside the approved folders, a script that failed the safety check, or a license that has not been activated. See What protects your project.

I am offline

The panel keeps working for a month after its last successful license check, and the License window shows how long is left. Connect once in that window and the clock resets.
