Motion Blur
Motion blur can make fast motions feel more natural.
For timing and easing controls that affect how fast a move feels, see Timing and Easing.
Controls
Section titled “Controls”Shutter Angle controls the length of the blur.
Samples controls the blur quality.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”Use motion blur when the clip moves, scales, or rotates quickly.
If the motion is slow or mostly static, motion blur may not be necessary.
Performance note
Section titled “Performance note”Motion blur is one of the more expensive visual options.
If playback slows down while editing, reduce the Samples or turn motion blur off temporarily and enable it again before final preview or export.
For more performance notes, see Rendering and Quality.
Visual note
Section titled “Visual note”Too much motion blur can make small UI-style layouts feel soft or hard to read.
Use the lowest amount that gives the movement the feel you want.
