Installation

Your Type Jazz download includes the ScriptUI panel and a folder containing 80 animation presets. Install both parts when updating to Type Jazz 1.1.0.

Install the panel

1. Quit After Effects.
2. Copy Type Jazz.jsx into the ScriptUI Panels folder for your After Effects installation.
3. Restart After Effects.
4. Open Window > Type Jazz.

macOS

Windows

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects [version]\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels\

Note

The After Effects application folder is protected. Your computer may ask for an administrator password when you copy the script.

Install the preset library

Copy the entire Type Jazz Presets folder into either the application Presets folder or your User Presets folder.

The easiest way to find your preferred folder is:

1. Open the Effects & Presets panel in After Effects.
2. Select an existing animation preset.
3. Open the panel menu and choose Reveal in Finder on macOS or Reveal in Explorer on Windows.
4. Copy the Type Jazz Presets folder there.
5. Return to the Effects & Presets panel menu and choose Refresh List.

Updating from an earlier version

Type Jazz 1.1.0 includes an updated preset library. Replace the older Type Jazz presets with the new folder from the 1.1.0 download. The older presets are not compatible with the 1.1.0 effect.

Set the expressions engine

Type Jazz requires the JavaScript expressions engine:

1. Open File > Project Settings.
2. Select the Expressions tab.
3. Set Expressions Engine to JavaScript.

Type Jazz will offer to open Project Settings if the current project uses the Legacy ExtendScript engine.
