Code Runner

Type Jazz includes a .coderunner collection that gives you another way to access its controls. Code Runner is Jake In Motion’s script launcher for After Effects.

Import the collection

1. Install Type Jazz and Code Runner.
2. Open Code Runner in After Effects.
3. Click Import in the Code Runner footer.
4. Select the Type Jazz .coderunner file included in your Type Jazz download.
5. Choose Add to add the Type Jazz collection without replacing your existing Code Runner setup.

The imported Type Jazz collection will appear alongside your other Code Runner collections.

Caution

Choose Add unless you intentionally want to replace your existing Code Runner collection. Replace removes your current collection before importing Type Jazz.

Use the Type Jazz buttons

Select one or more text layers, then click a button in the imported collection. The buttons run the corresponding Type Jazz actions, giving you quick access to the same animation controls from Code Runner.

The collection is nine buttons matching the panel’s own grid, each holding its sub-actions inside itself:

Hold the modifier while clicking, or press and hold a button to open its flyout and pick from the list. Per-character 3D, Variable font axes, and Open panel have no alternates.

Troubleshooting

Unlike the KBar toolbar, these buttons run the Type Jazz panel you have installed rather than carrying their own copy. If a button does nothing, it will say why:

• “Type Jazz is not installed where this button looked”: the panel is not in a ScriptUI Panels folder. The message lists the folders it searched. See Installation.
• “This Type Jazz is too old for Code Runner buttons”: an install older than 1.1.0 is winning the search. Code Runner arguments arrived in 1.1.0; install the current panel over it and restart After Effects.

The panel itself still opens from the Window menu in both cases.
