Effect Controls
The Type Jazz effect is the main control surface for the animation. It lets you work with a compact set of values instead of opening the underlying text animators and range selectors.
There are two nearly identical groups: Animation In and Animation Out. Collapse any controls you are not using to keep the effect easier to scan.
Transform controls
Section titled “Transform controls”Set values on the transform properties you want Type Jazz to animate. Depending on the selected animation type, those values will oscillate, bounce, or move through the text.
Available controls include:
- Anchor Point
- Position
- Scale
- Skew and Skew Axis
- X, Y, and Z Rotation
- Opacity
- Tracking
- Blur
Grouping Alignment changes the point the transforms are based around. It does not oscillate or bounce. Skew Axis also sets the direction of the skew rather than acting as an animated amount.
Per-character 3D
Section titled “Per-character 3D”Click Toggle per-character 3D in the Type Jazz panel to use X, Y, and Z rotation independently.
With Per-Character 3D disabled, the Z Rotation control drives normal 2D rotation.
Animation In and Animation Out
Section titled “Animation In and Animation Out”The Out group provides the same transform and motion controls as the In group, with two differences:
- Animation Out follows the Animation In Grouping Alignment value.
- Animation Out uses Hide Text instead of Reveal Text.
Oscillate and Bounce motions play in reverse for Animation Out. Enable Hide Text when the text should disappear as the out animation completes.
