Which versions of After Effects are supported?

Type Jazz 1.1.0 supports After Effects 2021 and newer. Variable font axis animation requires After Effects 26.0 or newer.

Does Type Jazz work on Windows and macOS?

Yes.

Do I need to keyframe every control?

No. Type Jazz is designed around setting values on its effect controls while the built-in rig performs the animation. Move the supplied Animation Progress keyframes when you need to change the duration.

Can Type Jazz animate text out?

Yes. Animation Out has its own transform, motion, direction, easing, and Hide Text controls.

Can I combine different In and Out presets?

Yes. The included presets update one half of the effect, so you can mix them.

Why do I need to select the Type Jazz effect before applying a preset?

The preset updates values on an existing Type Jazz effect. Selecting the effect tells After Effects which instance to update; otherwise it may add another copy.

Can I save my own presets?

Yes. Select the Type Jazz effect and choose Animation > Save Animation Preset.

Does Type Jazz work with KBar?

Yes. Import the included .kbar toolbar from KBar Settings. KBar is sold separately.

Does Type Jazz work with Code Runner?

Yes. The download includes a .coderunner collection of the same nine buttons. Code Runner is free.

Why do I have to click an animation type button after applying a preset?

Type Jazz keeps only the text animators a given movement type and direction need switched on, which is what keeps it fast. A preset carries values, not the animators’ on and off states, so the button is what re-syncs the rig. See Finish with the animation type button.
