Menu Command Buttons

A menu command button fires an item from After Effects’ own menus — anything from Trim Comp to Work Area to opening a specific panel.

Create one

1. Click + > Add button and set the type to Menu Command.
2. Pick the command from the searchable list. Search matches the command’s name, its menu, and a plain-English description of what it does — typing “clipboard” finds Copy.

The list is curated: roughly 500 commands, many with a description, verified in the real app. Commands that cannot work from a panel (ones that act on another panel’s selection) are left out.

Version differences

A command that does not exist in your version of After Effects simply does nothing — the button is safe to click everywhere, and safe to share.
