Backup and Restore

Export > Back up everything writes a single zip holding your entire library: every collection, every button, your code files, your custom icons, and your panel settings. Sharing sends one collection; a backup is the lot.

Keep one anywhere you keep backups, and make one before big reorganizations.

Import > Restore backup puts one back. It replaces your whole library, so it asks first — and it saves a copy of what you currently have into Code Runner’s data folder before touching anything.

A backup is an ordinary zip. If you ever need it without the panel: close After Effects, then unpack the zip’s data folder over Code Runner’s own data folder:

  • Windows: %APPDATA%\JakeInMotion\CodeRunner\v2
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/JakeInMotion/CodeRunner/v2

Code Runner protects your library on its own, too. Every save is verified before it replaces the previous copy, rolling backups are kept beside the live file, and if the library index is ever lost, Code Runner offers to rebuild your collection from your code files — each one remembers its own name and folder.
