Upgrading from Code Runner 1
Code Runner 2 is a complete rebuild of the original Code Runner script, and it brings your old buttons across for you.
Your buttons come with you
Section titled “Your buttons come with you”On its first launch, Code Runner 2 finds your v1 collection automatically and imports it as a collection named My Buttons. The Starter Pack is added as a second collection alongside it — your own buttons stay in front.
A one-time notice confirms what came across. Nothing is changed or deleted in v1 itself.
Importing a v1 export
Section titled “Importing a v1 export”Import also reads collections exported from Code Runner 1, so a collection a v1 user sends you still works. See Sharing Collections.
What’s new in 2
Section titled “What’s new in 2”- Six button types: menu commands, eases and extensions are new
- Search, nested folders, collections, and a grid view
- Custom icons and colors on every button and folder
- A visual ease editor with multi-point shapes (bounces, overshoots)
- Failed scripts report a line number from your own code
- One-file sharing, plus full-library backup and restore
Once you are settled in, you can remove the old Code Runner script — or keep it; the two do not conflict.
