Upgrading from Code Runner 1

Code Runner 2 is a complete rebuild of the original Code Runner script, and it brings your old buttons across for you.

On its first launch, Code Runner 2 finds your v1 collection automatically and imports it as a collection named My Buttons. The Starter Pack is added as a second collection alongside it — your own buttons stay in front.

A one-time notice confirms what came across. Nothing is changed or deleted in v1 itself.

Import also reads collections exported from Code Runner 1, so a collection a v1 user sends you still works. See Sharing Collections.

  • Six button types: menu commands, eases and extensions are new
  • Search, nested folders, collections, and a grid view
  • Custom icons and colors on every button and folder
  • A visual ease editor with multi-point shapes (bounces, overshoots)
  • Failed scripts report a line number from your own code
  • One-file sharing, plus full-library backup and restore

Once you are settled in, you can remove the old Code Runner script — or keep it; the two do not conflict.
